The next time you’re shopping for a new fragrance, consider these tips for choosing the best strong perfume:
Concentration: Perfumes with higher concentrations of fragrance oils typically emit a more potent scent and tend to last longer. For that reason, we’d recommend looking to purchase a parfum or eau de parfum. Just a few spritzes of either type on the pulse points or wrists should be enough to last the entire day. Avoid the lighter eaux de toilette and eaux fraiches; they simply don’t last as long, regardless of how well they project.
Notes: Strong perfumes are a touch more powerful than your average clean or citrusy scents, which isn’t to say they’re bad. In contrast, we enjoy how the strongest perfumes contain an abundance of rich, colorful notes – where each is a flavor on its own, intentionally exaggerated to give that potent edge. Rich floral notes, such as rose, jasmine, and tuberose, are perennial ingredient favorites. They never fail to pack a big floral punch. The longest-lasting scents also feature heavy woody and musky notes. After all, it’s these base notes that linger the longest. Consider fragrances heavy on cedar, oakmoss, and vetiver as well as those with sandalwood, patchouli, resin, and iris.
