Warm scents enclose us in a cozy, comfortable ambiance. And boy, can they set a scene. Picture a cold winter evening in front of a crackling fireplace, enjoying instrumental Christmas music, with a cup of hot, spiked chai tea in hand. Warm fragrances are often described as oriental or perhaps even spicy. Usually distilled from animalistic bases like ambergris, they remind us of languid flowers (the likes of jasmine and orchid) and aromatic spices (cardamom, cinnamon, vanilla). We also find layers of warm amber that envelop our skin in a supple, warm blanket. Then there are the drool-worthy sweet gourmands, usually found alongside almonds, caramel, candy-like fruits, or even freshly roasted coffee. Spicier notes – pepper, ginger, cumin, or cinnamon – compliment their warmer counterparts by tingling our nostrils and invigorating our bodies.
